This session provides an internal view of Reco4J, a Java graph-based recommendation engine, i.e. a software product suggesting items of relevance to users. This open source project is targeted toward the implementation and improvement of state-of-the-art algorithms in this promising research field, as well as their diffusion among a broader audience using an on-premises or cloud service solution. One of the most important features of Reco4J is its reliance on a graph database model that leads to a very expressive and high performance solution. The power of modeling complex relationships through nodes and edges will be presented for the case of feature extraction, neighborhood navigation, etc. These building blocks constitute the basis of the Reco4J engine that, together with Neo4J graph database and Hadoop distributed processing system, guarantees big data support for a vast range of use cases.

Discussions
A noter :

The rumours are true! Neo4J co-founder Peter Neubauer will be returning to Vancouver. The abstract of his talk will be send soon.
With the first Milestones of the Neo4j 2.0 series which we expect to be generally available (GA) in the next couple months. This release is significant in that it is the first time since the inception of Neo4j thirteen years ago that we are making a change to the property graph model. Specifically, we will be adding a new construct: labels.
Peter will go through some of the major features, Cypher changes, Transactional REST enpoints and other goodies, before we have some beers!
We are looking for one other speaker. Please use the form located at https://whis.pr/o/13643279992744c72b931ffffe04d1/f/13680315565594c72b931ffffe04d1/fill

This tutorial covers the core functionality of the Neo4j graph database. With a mixture of theory and hands-on practice sessions, attendees will quickly learn how easy it is to develop a Neo4j-backed application.
Topics covered include:
- Introduction to Neo4j
- Overview of Cypher query language
- Social use cases including recommendations
- Permissions modeling
- Other case studies in real world domains
- Opportunity to consult on current projects, possible implementations and proof of concepts
Attendees won't need any previous experience with Neo4j, NOSQL databases or specific development languages, but will need their own laptop with Neo4j installed.
The tutorial will be held at Jayway's offices in Stockholm near Sergels Torg. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Telecommunication companies are an obvious fit for entities that benefit from a graph database. From geo mapping, to access control, to network management, Telcos worldwide are using graph databases to scale the company, and achieve faster results. Join us for a customer focused webinar, presented by Philip Rathle, that discusses Telcos such as HP, Telenor, Deutsche Telekom and Maaii. We will discuss how each customer is using a graph database within their enterprise.
Speaker: Philip Rathle, Senior Director of Products, Neo Technology
Philip has a passion for building great products that help users solve tomorrow's challenges. He spent the first decade of his career building information solutions for some of the world’s largest companies: first with Accenture, and then at Tanning Technology, one of the world's top database consultancies of the time, as a solution architect focusing on data warehousing and BI strategy.
