Enterprises at Work with Graph Search

When Mark Zuckerberg added Graph Search to Facebook's feature set, he brought widespread attention to a technology that's becoming a common tool for mainstream users. Google's Knowledge Graph and Twitter's Interest Graph are simply graph search. Besides social networks, Neo4j customers are putting graph search to work in recommendation engines, network and cloud management, content management, fraud detection, and more.

Title: Meetup - SF Meetup: Building a Graph-based Analytics Platform - San Francisco
    Start: Wed Apr 23 2014 03:00:00 GMT+0200 (CEST)
Location: Hightail, 539 Bryant St, San Francisco, CA

Description: This is an advanced session on how to apply graph databases for analytics. The session will run for ~1.5 hours. Participation is free but seats are limited. During this session, Kenny will present, explain and discuss how he developed a Neo4j-based analytics platform to better understand trends and growth patterns on Meetup.com. AGENDA: 6.00 - 6.30: Refreshments and networking 6.30: Talk starts ABSTRACT: Building a Graph-based Analytics Platform Meetup is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings in various localities around the world. Meetup allows members to find and join groups unified by a common interest, such as politics, books, games, movies, health, pets, careers or hobbies. Users enter their postal code or their city and the topic they want to meet about, and the website helps them arrange a place and time to meet. Topic listings are also available for users who only enter a location. Meetup is a valuable source of data for understanding trends around products or brands. Meetup does not currently support an analytics platform for meetup organizers to track individual group statistics overtime. This talk describes how to build a scalable analytics platform for worldwide meetups using a Neo4j graph database. We'll be covering how to use Neo4j to: • Track meetup group growth over time • Apply tags to meetup groups and report combined growth of all groups over time Questions that will be answered: • Given a start date and an end date, what is the time series that plots the membership growth of a given meetup group? • Given a start date, an end date, and a combination of tags, what is the time series that plots the combined membership growth of all meetup groups with those tags? • How do you generate the JSON data of a time series for a basic JS line chart plugin?
